Brief description : WERK.STADT.CAMP aims to revitalize the old freight depot through craftsmanship. It will offer further training opportunities, information events, and discussion panels on the topic of crafts. Crafts will be presented in an "open workshop," making them particularly attractive to young people. A café/bar area will complement the space, creating a hub for ideas and exchange.

Recruitment strategy for skilled workers

Brief description : Many companies in the region have recognized that the best recruitment strategy for skilled workers is retaining their current employees. We want to develop and provide a tool that allows companies to measure the quality of their employee retention efforts. This tool will also indicate whether current measures are effective or whether they are producing unexpected results. The tool will be freely available to all companies.

Service center for foreign skilled workers in the district of Görlitz

2019 Brief description :

  • Continuation of the service center as a central network hub for all questions relating to labor migration: as a contact point, advisor, guide, and supporter for applicants with a migration background and interested companies and institutions
  • Further development in line with regional needs 
  • Supporting the regional economy in filling vacant jobs and apprenticeships

Target group : Skilled workers from Poland and the Czech Republic, Europe, third countries; foreign residents of the district and refugees

F is for Strength - Skilled workers have a gender

Brief description : The central aim of the project is to create new opportunities for participation by the (qualified) protagonists and to improve the awareness of (structural, civil society, and economic) development opportunities by responsible and established actors. Furthermore, new ideas for gender-sensitive strategies and measures for securing and developing skilled workers in the region will be developed and discussed with partners from business and administration.

Target group : Qualified women between 18 and 45 years of age (in education, studies and employment); locals (returnees) and newcomers in the education, family, or career phase

New Spirits - The Upper Lusatian Network for Starting-Staying-Growing"

Brief description : To revitalize the declining number of startups in the region, a sustainable network will be established. This network will integrate all relevant stakeholders in this field and create modern services for founders and young entrepreneurs. The aim is to improve the entrepreneurial climate in the region and enhance and sustainably solidify the success of startups. This project continues the "Upper Lusatia - Land for Startups" project, which began in October 2016. The network's focus will be on female founders and business successors.

Continuation of the Ebersbach-Neugersdorf/Zittau returnee exchange

Brief description : The towns of Ebersbach-Neugersdorf and Zittau are jointly hosting a job fair for returning residents for the second time during the 2018 Christmas season. The event aims to help companies fill their vacancies and promote a positive image of the local job market. In a festive atmosphere, visitors and companies can discuss specific job openings and career opportunities in a relaxed setting. Representatives from the towns will also be available to provide information on housing, childcare, and schools. The event builds on the success of the first job fair in 2017, with the goal of establishing it as a long-term event.

Target group : Those wishing to return to the country as well as future new citizens; job changers and job seekers.

Skilled worker campaign Upper Lusatia - Implementation phase I

Brief description : The aim of this project proposal is the first-ever implementation of the external skilled worker campaign for Upper Lusatia. This will facilitate the planned transfer of the theoretical and tested campaign modules from the previous development project into marketing and communication practice.

Late Shift 2018 – Company Open Day

Projektträger: Stadt Zittau

Project duration: 01.03.2018-30.01.2019

Brief description : For the "Late Shift" event, companies offer coordinated company tours on a single day. A wide range of career opportunities are showcased, and contacts are established between companies and citizens/potential skilled workers. This initiative, developed since 2016, puts the focus on the activities of various professions and employers, and makes career paths, particularly in STEM fields, tangible. After two successful events in Zittau, the concept was expanded to include Görlitz and Weißwasser in 2018. This significantly increases the event's public impact and reinforces the goal of improving the image of the Görlitz district as a business location.

Target group : young people in the career orientation phase; residents of the region; those wishing to return; foreign citizens; companies; media and other multipliers (regional/supra-regional)
